Olatunde Victor is perhaps best known as a campus singer, a dancer. A student of Federal University of Technology, Akure currently studying Agriculture Engineering. As a singer, he said he gets is inspiration from our own popular naija singer Adeleke David "DAVIDO".
In this exclusive interview with NAIJA CAMPUS GOSSIP’s Neyo, Victor popularly called V.I.C speaks about his life, his education, his family and the many interesting aspects of his upcoming career.
Hi V.I.C, it’s great to finally meet you. Thank you for taking time out of your class. How has your studies been?
Well, I’m coping with studies. It’s been challenging but I hope one day I'll be done with the program. I have to combine my education with attending lectures, preparing and writing tests and exams with my music career. However, I enrolled for the course with the determination to eventually succeed someday.
Tell me V.I.C, what are you doing in FUTA? Why FUTA and not any other school?
Hmmmm, when it come to Agriculture Engineering they are one of the best schools that do that and since my stay here have really enjoyed it.
For someone who his becoming popular among youths and with several offers coming your way, why do you feel the need to obtain a degree?
Let’s just say I love education. I also do not want to stop at just obtaining knowledge and certificates; I want to really tell youths that you can be successful as an educationist and as an entertainer. Also, my parents have a desire for education in me at a young age.
Tell me about your educational journey. What are the steps you’ve passed through to get to this point?
My primary, secondary and tertiary education all took place in Ondo State. I'm aspiring to obtained a Certificate in Agriculture Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. It’s been an interesting journey so far for me and some day i hope to obtain my masters in Agriculture Engineering someday.
You have quite an impressive Stage Performance. Can you tell us what motivates you?
I learnt a lot of things very quickly. I also learnt that what helps some entertainers to be more popular is their stage performance, and when you see someone like D'banj, Don jazzy, Wizkid, Tu'face and Davido perform you would really understand what am saying. And what motivates me is a big question; i think Davido motivates me a lot with is type of music and that is also the type of song i sing.
You recently delved into music and you have released some songs that have been getting mixed reviews. Why did you decide to take on this path?
I have released 3 tracks “Your love”, “More”, and “Party time” have been enjoying continuous rotation on air, and i'm hoping to release the videos soon for “Party time” and “Your love”. I ventured into music because it’s one of the talents I know I’m blessed with. It’s me expressing myself as usual, this time through music.
What does your music mean to you and how far do you intend to take your music career?
Music means everything to me, it's my life and all have got. My song such as it’s purely dancing time like “Party Time”, which means groove. Most of the songs are actually danceable, with some having a touch of great feelings. I am ready to take my music career to any height that baba God would allow me to.
What is the next level for you? What should we be expecting from V.I.C in the nearest future?
My music project is also another area I want to work on. I hope to do a lot of collaborations with some artistes that I greatly admire. I have always greatly admired Tu'face.
It was great chatting with V.I.C and on behalf of Naija Campus Gossip, we wish you all the very best IJN!
