Nigerian Music Star Sasha debuts Eclectic by Sasha – The “Inception” Collection at L’Espace This Sunday

We all know Sasha (Yetunde Alabi) as a Pan-African rap star. For years, she has been incubating her fashion line “Eclectic by Sasha” by rocking pieces from the label on the red carpet and retailing to private clients. Following the success of her design label’s test run at fashion retail store – L’Espace, Eclectic by Sasha will return to the store with the brand’s debut collection “Inception”.
At the launch, attendees will have the chance to meet  and interact with the award winning artiste and enjoy a 5% discount off all purchases as well as sip on refreshing drinks.
BellaNaija.com‘s Adeola Adeyemo got in touch with Sasha and asked a few questions about the collection. Here’s what she told us.
On what to expect from the debut collectionThe collection is bursting with color. With the dominant colors being royal blue, coral, pink and tangerine orange. The fabrics are great for the Nigerian weather, we used a lot of silk, chiffon, and items to look out for including our signature side peplum skirts, the butterfly print chiffon and denim shirts and a popular favourite the “Sisi Fadeke” Shirt dresses.
On her inspiration for “Inception”Everywhere. I was in Mombasa, Kenya, working on my album in the first quarter of the year, my hotel was on the beach so I was outdoors a lot, the colors were so vivid and during my fabric selection, I tried to re-capture that easy breezy feeling, Mombasa is a hot place and Lagos gets really hot sometimes, so I was careful to choose fabrics that would keep my clients comfortable all day.
On who is the Eclectic by Sasha womanShe is dynamic, inspiring and free spirited. Eclectic by Sasha would attract women who like to dress with ease and appreciate affordable fashion.
On what ladies should expect from the collectionColourful comfort, versatile pieces with an ever present element of vintage.
Number of Pieces & Price Range - Inception is a limited edition collection because I want everyone to save a part of this history, so we would not be reproducing any of these items again. There are 75 pieces and the prices range from N8,500 to N 14,000
On her favorite part of conceptualizing a designThe “Aha” moment , sometimes I experiment with fabric for days at a time, dressing my mannequin who is named Serena and then I do something unintentional and it looks great. That is a fantastic feeling.
Likes and dislikes of the Nigerian fashion industry - I like that to be successful at it is no walk in the park. You have to be really dedicated and I am inspired by all who have successfully made a living out of it and opened doors for people like me. My greatest dislike is the cost of production which makes items cost higher than they really should, looking good shouldn’t be a luxury, it should be a standard.
On if her industry friends will be present at the launch - The launch is predominantly an introduction to everyone who stops by L’Espace on Sunday, nothing too formal, but yes, I believe some of my colleagues who have been great supporters of the brand will be there to shop and celebrate INCEPTION of greater things to come. If you want names, you would have to come and see for yourself.
Don’t miss out. Admission is free for all!
